Abstract

1351132 Endless conveyer belts B T R INDUSTRIES Ltd 19 April 1971 [21 Feb 1970] 8448/70 Heading B8A A conveyer system comprises a support structure 10 on which an endless conveyer belt 11 which is flexible longitudinally and transversely is conveyed along pairs of rollers 15 by a series of ropes 30 which engage in grooves 9 formed in the rollers 15 and in grooves 22 formed in ribs or flanges 21 integrally formed in the belt 11 along its longitudinal edges, each rope 30 being driven from a drive wheel 33, the rollers 15 being mounted such that the belt 11 forms a closed loop over part of its run, Fig. 2a, and opens out as it approaches a discharge point 12, Fig. 2c (not shown), by the increasing separation of the roller pairs 15. During the opening out of the belt 11 additional rollers 19 keep the ribs 21 of the belt 11 in contact with the ropes 30 and rollers 15. The endless belt 11 may be provided with interengaging means at its edges to hold the two edges of the belt together when it is in the form of a closed loop, Figs. 4a-4c (not shown).
