Abstract

1349514 Boots &c H J STOKES 27 May 1971 [4 June 1970] 26949/70 Heading A3B A device for negotiating inclined surfaces; e.g. a roof, consists of a pair of attachments, one for each foot, each attachment consisting of a base plate 1 having a non-slip lower surface 3, and a foot support platform 2 which is inclined to the base so that, in use, the foot support platform 2 is horizontal (see Fig. 4). Each attachment is secured to a foot by a strap 17 so that the user can walk up inclined surfaces. The front end of the foot support platform 2 is pivoted by spindle 4 to the base plate 1 and the rear end is secured by a bolt to a pair of struts 8. The struts 8 have a series of holes 9 through which the. bolt may be passed so that the inclination of the platform 2 can be adjusted according to the pitch of the roof. Alternatively the spindle 4 may be passed through a selected one of a series of holes (not shown) formed in the ribs 6 on the base plate 1 to adjust the inclination of the platform 2. The non-slip layer 3 on the base plate may be foamed plastics material or foamed rubber.
