Abstract
1342663 Steam turbines MITSUBISHI JUKOGYO KK 8 July 1971 [11 July 1970] 32236/71 Heading FIT To improve efficiency of a steam turbine stage some of the steam which has leaked past labyrinth seal 5 surrounding the rotor shaft is conveyed through passages 12 in the stator diaphragm 3, 4 to constitute at least some of the steam leaking between rotor shroud 7 and the surrounding casing 8. At least one fin 13 is provided downstream of the entrance to passages 12 to prevent backflow of steam through the latter. The turbine may be of reaction or impulse type.
