[Also in Division F2] A poultry drinker comprises a trough 17 which is supplied with water from a valve assembly 15 through a flexible pipe 12 connected to a water supply pipe 13 by a saddle connector 14 which includes a valve biased to a closed position and adapted to be opened by engagement of the flexible pipe with the saddle connector. A short tube attached to the valve body of the connector 14 is inserted into a corresponding hole in the supply pipe 13 and is clamped in position. A valve closure member 43 (Fig. 3, not shown) is urged by a spring to engage a closure seat and on engagement of the flexible pipe by means of an attached screw cap the valve is lifted from its seat and thereby opened. Attached to the other end of the flexible pipe 12 is a body member 19 of the valve assembly 15 about which is supported concentrically on a flange a spring 26 which supports on its upper end a cap 27 which by means of a screw-thread engages a neck 23 attached to the trough 17. A valve closure member 28 is urged by the spring 29 to close a valve opening 25 in the body member 19 such that when the trough 17 is filled with water its weight compresses the spring 26 and the trough neck 23 is low relative to the body member 19 and when the weight of water is reduced the neck 23 rises and a projecting pin 31 integral with the neck lifts the valve closure member 28 so that water flows through opening 25 and through holes 32 in the neck 23 to the trough 17. Adjustment of the screw cap 27 on the neck of the trough, which each have matching projections to provide audible clicks on rotation, results in an adjustment of the water level which is maintained in the trough. When the trough is stood on the ground a frusto-conical washer 34 closes the opening 25 to prevent water overflow.
