Abstract
1,228,351. Storage systems. D. J. TOWNSEND and C. M. TOWNSEND. 11 March, 1968 [14 Dec., 1966], No. 41061/66. Heading A4T. Load-bearing pallets 10 run on wheels in tracks 13, 17, the wheels being rotatable about their vertical axes on movement of a linkage and any one of pedals 11. The track layout is formed by two straight pairs 17 welded to four rectangular corner sections 13 to form a closed loop whereby the pallets can be positioned in various alignments. The outer corners of the rectangular sections are provided with stops 25, 26 and all the corners have a shallow circular dished recess 24 surrounded by a shallow ramp whereby, when the wheels abut the stops they are located in the recesses and may be turned via pedals 11 to allow the pallets to be moved at right angles to their previous direction of movement. The recesses may be formed with turntables as the wheels may be castered.
