Abstract

1,221,412. Overload release clutches. COVENTRY GAUGE & TOOL CO. Ltd. 7 March, 1968 [8 Dec., 1966], No. 54958/66. Heading F2C. In a torque-limiting device in which a pair of relatively rotatable rotary members 23, 24, Fig. 3, have yieldable driving engagement by means of radially movable rollers or roller assemblies 30a, 30b, the rollers are radially urged by a single common spring. The roller assemblies may be a roller mounted on a pin by an antifriction bearing, e.g. a needle roller type. Pins 33 engage the plungers 26 to hold the roller assemblies disengaged. In another embodiment a single garter-type spring urges the roller assemblies radially inwardly into engagement into the other member.
