Abstract

1,215,130. Milling; grinding. P. TRAUTWEIN. 7 May, 1969 [7 May, 1968], No. 23329/69. Headings B3D and B3K. A method of producing a toothed-face ring 1 in which the centre line of each tooth extends radially over the face of the ring, comprises feeding completely across the face of the ring a frusto-conical grinding or milling tool 3 arranged with the operative portion 4 of its machining surface at the required tooth flank angle, repeating the machining step for each successive tooth and finally removing the intervening material remaining between the teeth by a thin cylindrical milling cutter. The ring may be used as an index ring in an angularly adjustable tool head, and a matching ring as shown may be produced by similar machining steps.
