Abstract

1,212,254. Urea-aldehyde condensate. MITSUBISHI CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 27 Feb., 1968 [2 March, 1967], No. 9457/68. Heading C2C. [Also in Divisions C1 and C3] A urea-acetaldehyde polycondensate, of urea: acetaldehyde ratio 1: 0À 6-2À0 and prepared at a pH of 2À7 to 8À0, is modified by reaction with 2-50% of its weight of formaldehyde at 0-150‹ C. and pH 2À5-10. The formaldehyde may be in the form of solution, vapour, metaformaldehyde or paraformaldehyde. The products are suitable as fertilizers alone, or mixed with other fertilizers. In examples, ureaacetaldehyde polycondensate is prepared and treated with formalin or gaseous formaldehyde or paraformaldehyde.
