Abstract

1,207,720. Supporting pottery during firing. RIDGWAY POTTERIES Ltd. 24 Nov., 1969 [5 Nov., 1968], No. 52276/68. Heading F4B. A potter's crank comprises a flat central portion 6 with supports 12 for plates or saucers 10 and three radial arms 8 engaging ledges 14 on feet 16 made of a material resistant to glaze take-up. The material may be 95% zircon bonded with 5% ball clay or a high alumina mineral or mixtures thereof. The feet may be attached to the arms by a refractory cement or the tongue and groove joints 16d, 16e may provide a stable assembly. With the contacting parts made of material resistant to glaze takeup, adjacent cranks do not stick to one another.
