Abstract
1,206,982. Glass-metal seals. SYLVANIA ELECTRIC PRODUCTS, Inc. 19 Dec., 1967 [30 Dec., 1966], No. 57677/67. Heading C1M. [Also in Division H1] In making an incandescent lamp a pair of support wires 12 are fused to a glass exhaust tube 10, a pair of lead-in wires 16 are arranged between a glass ring and the tube and the glass ring is fused to the tube to form a node 18 which fixes the lead-in wires in place. A filament 24 is then passed through loops 20 on the ends of the support wires and secured to the lead-in wires 16, which are bent to a V-shape for the purpose. An envelope is then passed over the mount structure and sealed to the node 18, being finally exhausted and the tube 10 tipped off just below the node.
