Abstract
1,205,095. Pure fluid oscillators. CORNING GLASS WORKS. Nov.25, 1968, No.55730/68. Heading G3H. [Also in Division G4] A fluid oscillator comprises a bi-stable amplifier 21 having an inlet nozzle 20 and output passages 30,32 feeding inlet nozzles 40, 60 of mono-stable amplifiers 38, 58 each of which is biased to feed a straight through outlet passage, 52, 72, and has a passage, 56, 76, providing feedback to one of the control orifices 34, 36 of amplifier 21 when pressure is applied to control orifices 80, 82 through a common inlet 78. In operation with the power stream flowing along the passages 32, 52, application of pressure to inlet 78 first transfers the power stream to passage 56 where it deflects the power stream to passages 30, 72 and, if the pressure is maintained at inlet 78, the power stream is diverted to passage 76 and then passages 32, 52 so causing the device to oscillate at a frequency determined by the dimensions of the device. By applying pulses instead of a constant pressure to inlet 78 the device can operate digitally as a counter.
