A switch includes a contact 78, 80 on a blade 56 and movable between two stationary contacts 50, 54, blade 56 being of resilient sheet metal, two tongues 66, 72, one, 72, being stiff relative to the other, and the free ends of tongues 66, 72 being engaged in two notches 37, 39 in opposite sides of a metal rod 30 part of which is embedded in a wall of a casing 10, blade 56 having two parallel ribbon-shaped tension members 58, 60 formed integrally with and in the same plane as two flat transverse end members 62, 64 from which tongues 66, 72 extend, contact 78, 80 being provided on one end of blade 56 and operation of an operating member 90 causing a force on the other to move blade 56 from one stationary contact to the other with a snapping action. Blade 56 is returned to its original position on release of operating member 90 by retractive spring 94. A cover 22, Figs. 5, 6, 9, 10 (not shown), of a transparent polycarbonate is secured to casing 10 by a flexible integral arm 23 passing into an opening in wall 14 of casing 10 and hooking on to a ledge. Arm 23 is naturally bent and is partially straightened by a tool 111, Fig. 6 (not shown), so that it may be slipped over the ledge. In a second embodiment, Figs. 13-21 (not shown), the cover may be secured to the casing by an adhesive, by fasteners or by screws.
