Abstract
1,200,343. Ball joint. ARMSTRONG PATENTS CO. Ltd. 4 June, 1968 [6 June, 1967], No. 26011/67. Heading E2F. A ball joint comprises a ball pin 12 having a convex, part-spherical surface 18 cooperating with a complementary internal surface of a housing 10 in which the ball pin is received and a concentric concave spherical surface supported by a ball 24 resting on a partspherical seat 22 provided in the housing such that the ball, the seat and the internal surface are substantially concentric, and a partspherical sleeve 26 of a plastics material having good sliding surface properties interposed between the ball and the concave surface of the ball pin. Another sleeve 20 of a plastics material, e.g. polyurethane, may be interposed between the convex surface of the ball pin and the internal housing surface.
