Abstract
1299638 Knitting-machines WIRKMASCHINENBAU KARL-MARX-STADT VEB 1 April 1970 15429/70 Heading D1C A warp machine has means for presenting weft to the needles comprising two hookbearing endless chains 1, 2 supplied with weft by laying means 3 moving to-and-fro between them and also to-and-fro transversely between them. The two movements ensure the wefts are perpendicular to the wales in the fabric. The weft laying means comprises two plates 4, 5 spaced by bars 6, driven by a chain 11 along fixed guides 8, 9 in a basic direction between the chains. The weft threads 13 are guided by a slide 7 movable along the bars transverse to the basic direction. The slide carries a sleeve through which a bar 14 is passed; the bar is oscillated by arms 15. Ropes 17 are connected at one end to the arms and at the other to a pivotable lever 18 oscillated by a driven cam 19. In a modification (Fig. 2 not shown) the rod 17 is moved in a rectilinear path along fixed guides (31, 32). In further modifications (Figs. 3, 4 not shown) the rod is swung about an axis perpendicular to the plane containing the chains. In further embodiments additional wefts are laid obliquely to the wales by laying means moving solely to-and-fro between the chains. The oblique wefts (36 Fig. 7 not shown) are laid by means (35) moved to-and-fro by a chain (37). The laying means carries a slide (12) movable transversely to the basic movement, relative thereto and by guide bars (42, 43) at the end of the traverses. A second slide (82 Fig. 12 not shown) may be mounted opposite the first slide on the laying means. In an alternative embodiment (Fig. 10 not shown) the two laying means (3, 35) are separately driven, the former being moved transversely at the end of its traverses by cam wedges (54, 55).
