Abstract

1292130 Ruthenium dioxide oxide ENGELHARD MINERALS & CHEMICALS CORP 22 Dec 1969 [23 Dec 1968 28 Nov 1969] 62465/69 Heading C1A [Also in Divisions B2 and C7] A coating of RuO 2 is formed on a substrate by depositing Ru metal or an Ru salt on the substrate and then heating in an oxidizing atmosphere to at least 400‹ C. The metal may be deposited as a dispersion in an organic vehicle or by plating, sputtering or vacuum deposition. The salt may be deposited by applying a dispersion or solution of the salt in organic or aqueous medium. Temperatures of 400-1000‹ C. may be used. The substrate may be made of Ti, Ta, Nb, Hf, Zr, W, Al or alloys thereof, or may be a coating of these metals on Cu.
