Abstract

1290148 Mechanical switches JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd 5 Feb 1970 [18 Feb 1969] 8614/69 Heading H1N In an ignition and starter switch for a road vehicle a rotor 12, Fig. 1, carrying contacts (12a), Fig. 5 (not shown), carries a pawl 15 tivoted to a pin 14 and urged by a spring 18 po two alternative positions with a lobe on one or the other side of a projection 18a whereby the rotor 12 may be freely turned from the "off" position, Fig. 1, anti-clockwise to the "ignition on" position and the pawl 15 pass freely over a projection 16 of the casing to the "starter on" position, Fig. 3 (not shown). The latter movement tilts the pawl 15 whereby the lower lobe is forced to the left of the projection 18a and urged to rotate in the clockwise direction so that on return of the intermediate "ignition on" position of Fig. 4, a projection 15a engages in a recess 17 in the casing 11 whereby the rotor 11 cannot again be moved anti-clockwise to the "starter on" position unless it is first returned to the Fig. 1 position during which movement the pawl 15 is tilted by the projections 16 to return to the position shown in Fig. 1.
