Abstract

1288272 Slag for steelmaking NIPPON STEEL CORP 10 Nov 1969 [12 Nov 1968] 54812/69 Headings C7D and C7M] A slag forming agent used in steel making comprises a mixture of 50-85% wt. granular CaO L 10 mm. diameter and at least 10% wt of a binder of iron oxide and Al 2 O 3 which is fired between 700-1, 700‹C. The mixture may also include SiO 2 , MnO, TiO 2 , MgO, CaF 2 , Na 2 O, K 2 O, Ba 2 O 3 and B 2 O 3 . Exemplified slag forming agents contain 70% CaO, 20% Fe 2 O 3 , 5% CaF 2 , 3À5% Al 2 O 3 or 62% CaO, 25% Fe 2 O 3 , 3% SiO 2 , 10% Al 2 O 3 . The CaO may be added as such or as CaCO 3 .
