Abstract

1287141 Production of methylene bridged polyaryl amines. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 12 Jan 1970 [1 Jan 1969] 62/69 Heading C2C Methylene bridged polyaryl amines are prepared by reacting a primary aromatic amine with formaldehyde under known conditions characterized in that a diamino diaryl methane is incorporated in the reaction mixture at the start of the reaction. The diamino diaryl methane may be used from stock for incorporation in the reaction or that present in the product from one preparation may be completely or practically completely removed by distillation and utilized as the starting material in the next or further preparation or a definite proportion of the diamino diaryl methane present in the product from one preparation may be removed by distillation and utilized as the starting material in the next preparation or a part or the whole of a diamino diaryl methane present in the product from one preparation may be removed and a definite proportion of this removed diamino diaryl methane used in the next preparation.
