Abstract
1286453 Endless passenger-conveyers R F BRIDGLAND 25 Aug 1969 [23 Aug 1968 11 Sept 1968] 40461/68 and 43135/68 Heading B8A A conveyer arrangement comprises an endless belt or chain 6 adapted to move at least one article or passenger receiving means 3, the latter being provided with control means 12, 14, 16, for momentarily moving the means 3 relatively to the belt or chain, and thereby its speed relative to the speed of the belt or chain so as to provide at least one region of the conveyer path over which the speed of the article receiving means is lower or higher than over the main portion of the path. As shown, the means 3 comprises a pallet 3 slidable relatively to an endless carrying belt 1. A linkage 7 is connected between each pallet 3, and a point on an endless chain 6 driven at the same speed as that of the belt 1. Two camways 16, 16 (Fig. 7), and cam followers 14, control the linkage so as to vary the speed of the pallets 3 relative to a fixed platform A (Fig. 9). In a passenger conveyer (Fig. 9), the movement of a turnstile may be synchronized with a slowing down of the pallets 3 as they approach the platform A. Each pallet 3 may have a handrail 21. The conveyer may connect with another conveyer, or with a railway (Figs. 10 and 11, not shown). A drive drum 2 of the conveyer belt 1 may be recessed at 4 to receive the pallets 3.
