Abstract

1277718 Hose joints SOC ANON DBA 20 May 1971 [20 May 1970] 16093/71 Heading F2G To prevent over-tightening of a hose coupling by screwing-up a nut 30 on to an end piece 18 so as to clamp the end of a plastics &c. hose 10 between an olive 12 and frusto-conical &c. surfaces 26, 38 in the end piece, the inner end 40 of the nut has a face 42 which abuts a shoulder on the end piece 18. Deterioration of the hose end due to excessive tightening of the nut 30 is thus avoided. To prevent accidental unscrewing of the nut 30, its inner end face and the co-operating face of the shoulder on the end piece 18 may be provided with radial, interengaging ribs of plane or sinusoidal shape, Figs. 3, 4 (not shown). The end piece 18 and the nut 30 may be made of plastics.
