Abstract
1276942 Antimicrobial compositions SUMITOMO CHEMICAL CO Ltd 24 March 1970 14254/70 Heading ASB [Also in Division C2] Pharmaceutical compositions, having antimicrobial activity suitable for oral administration contain novel dichloroacetamides of the formula I: wherein R 1 is C 1 or Br; R 2 is H, Cl, Br, C 1-5 alkyl, phenyl or phenyl-C 1-5 alkyl; R 3 is Cl, Br, C 1-5 alkyl, phenyl or phenyl-C 1-5 alkyl; R 4 is NO 2 or CH 3 SO 2 ; and R 5 is H or -CO.C.R 1 R 2 R 3 ; provided that, in the case where R 4 is NO 2 , R 1 is Cl and R 2 and R 5 are each H, R 3 is not Cl or phenyl; together pharmaceutically acceptable carriers. The compositions may also contain chloramphenicol and thiamphenicol as further active ingredients.
