Abstract
1,264,128. Propanolamine derivatives. PFIZER Ltd. 4 Sept., 1969 [29 June, 1968], No. 31232/68. Heading C2C. Compounds of the general formula (Ph = phenyl optionally substituted by one or more halogen atoms or C 1-4 alkyl, C 1-4 alkoxy, CF 3 or benzyloxy groups; Ph<SP>1</SP> = phenyl optionally substituted by one or more halogen atoms or C 1-4 alkyl or alkoxy groups. R<SP>1</SP> = H, C 1-4 alkyl, benzyl; R<SP>2,3</SP> = H or C 1-4 alkyl; n = 1 or 2) and their acid addition salts are prepared by (a) reacting (X = leaving atom or group) with (b) reacting with (c) reacting with or (d) reacting with and catalytically hydrogenating the resulting Schiff base, optionally followed in each case by salt formation. The above compounds are #-adrenergic blocking agents and/or hypotensive agents, and may be administered in the form of pharmaceutical preparations containing them in association with a carrier. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,123,258.
