Abstract
1,253,117. Spiral paper elements for the filtration of liquids. ROBERT BOSCH G.m.b.H. 5 Nov., 1969 [26 Sept., 1969], No. 54111/69. Heading B1D. A filter element comprises a strip 2 of filter paper folded to form a V-shaped cross-section (bounded by parts 9 and 10) and provided with transverse groove-like depressions 8, two spacer strips 3, 4, and adhesive threads 5, 6, disposed as shown, all these components being spirally wound on tube 7 to. form roll 1 whereby two spiral spaces 12 and 13 are formed, one within the other, in roll 1, the two spiral spaces being accessible from the ends 14 and 15 respectively of the roll and being completely separated from each other by filter paper. The depressions 8 increase the compressive strength of the roll. When used for filtration, the element is inserted into a housing so that the end 14 communicates with a liquid-inlet and the end 15 communicates with a filtrate outlet. The strip 2 may be made of creped paper.
