A thin walled rubber contraceptive sheath 1 comprises a main body section 2 and a head section 4, each of generally circular cross section and generally cylindrical shape, the head section being of larger diameter than the main body section and having a length not exceeding that of the main body section. The ratio of the diameters of the head and main body sections may be in the range 1.8:1 to 1.1:1. The ratio of the lengths of the main body and head sections may be in the range 12:1 to 1:1.
