1,248,139. Load bearing attachment means; hinges. COMPAGNIE DE SAINT-GOBAIN. 29 Dec., 1969 [27 Dec., 1968], No. 63081/69. Headings E2B and E2F. An attachment means for attaching a load, such as a door 29, to a load bearing structure such as a door jamb 25 and for adjusting the position of the load relative to the load-bearing structure comprises a first member for securing in use to the load bearing structure and having a tubular or part 4 internally of rectangular cross section 3, a second member adapted to bear the load and having a projection 16 externally of generally rectangular cross section and receivable in the tubular part 3 of the first member, the tubular part having in cross-section a first pair of opposite sides (substantially longer than the corresponding pair of opposite sides) of the projection to permit adjustment of the position of the projection along the first pair of opposite sides within the tubular part, and a screw-threaded bore 8 in one of the first pair of opposite sides 5 of the tubular part extending obliquely in the direction of receipt of the projection to receive a screw 26 which to urge the projection 16 into the tubular part and into engagement with the other of the first pair of opposite sides 9 of the tubular part 3. The projection 16 may have a corresponding oblique recess 20 to receive the screw 26. The sides 10 of the tubular part and 17 of the projection may have intermeshing ribs and grooves as may the faces 21 on the second means and 11 on the first means. The second means may be fitted with a pin 27 on which a hinge 28 may pivot.
