Abstract

1,247,922. Electro-photographic liquid developers. RICOH K. K. Nov. 27, 1968 [Dec. 5, 1967], No.56177/68. Heading G2H. A liquid electro-photographic developer comprising charged toner particles in an insulating carrier liquid is made by electrostatically charging the particles suspended in air or in the carrier liquid by passing all of the particles through an electrode energized to impart a charge of the same polarity to all the particles, and then mixing them in a quantity of the carrier liquid in a liquid chamber. The invention includes apparatus in which particles suspended in air are blown Fig. 1 or sucked Fig. 2 to pass through an electrode nozzle into carrier liquid or particles already suspended in carrier liquid may be withdrawn from a vessel and returned thereto after passage through an electrode Figs.3 and 4. The latter apparatus may form part of an electro-photographic development apparatus Fig. 7.
