Abstract

1,129,515. Magnetic separators. M.E.L. EQUIPMENT CO. Ltd. 21 Dec., 1965 [6 Sept., 1965], No. 37928/65. Heading B2J. A magnetic filter for removing ferromagnetic particles from a fluid, e.g. oil, comprises a casing 1, preferably of non-magnetic material, in which is mounted with clearance an assembly comprising a number of cylindrical permanent magnets 3 with like poles opposing each other and separated by annular pole pieces 2, the edges of which project beyond the peripheries of the magnets and are formed with recesses 5. The pole pieces are angularly displaced relative to one another so that the recesses in one pole piece are staggered in relation to those in another pole piece. The magnets and pole pieces are mounted on a tube 4 and are retained thereon by the turned-over ends of the tube.
