In a statorless commutator motor with a face commutator 3 and brushes 2 which bear against it, each brush is urged against the commutator in a direction which makes an angle a with the axis of rotation of the motor, the angle being related (in the specification) to the friction factor between the brush 2 and its holder 1. Preferably, as shown, the direction diverges from the motor axis.
