Abstract

1,112,081. Laminates. J. SAINSBURY Ltd., and BYALEX CO. Ltd. 6 Nov., 1964 [6 Aug., 1963; 13 Aug., 1963; 24 Sept., 1963], Nos. 31036/63, 32000/63 and 37003/63. Heading B5N. A preformed monolithic block or slab suitable for subsequent use as a panel in heat-insulating partitions comprises a piece of a synthetic or natural cellular material 30 (Fig. 7) having adhered to one of its surfaces a laminated moisture vapour impermeable sheet material 31 and having adhered to its other surface a moisture vapour permeable laminate 38. The cellular material 30 may consist of expanded fully cured polystyrene; the laminate 31 may consist of superposed sheets of polyvinyl chloride 32, white Kraft paper 33, polythene 34, aluminium foil 35, polythene 36 and brown Kraft paper 37; and the laminate 38 may consist of an outer sheet of polyvinyl chloride, an open weave cloth 40, e.g. cotton scrim and a coarse brown Kraft paper 41. The block may be assembled in frame structures similar to those described in Specifications 961,932 and 961,931 and successive blocks 14 (Fig. 6) may be abutted against strips 15a of flexible foamed material like sponge rubber or foamed polyurethane between which a bracing web 23 is located. Sections 24 which overlap the blocks 13 are secured to the web 23. A vapour sealing compound is applied on the moisture impermeable side of the assembled blocks under the flanges of the section 24.
