Abstract

1,108,129. Circuit assemblies. AMP. Inc. 8 June, 1966 [2 July, 1965], No. 25522/66. Heading H1R. [Also in Division H2] Printed circuitry and electrical components on boards 14 are connected from board to board by connectors in the walls of the modular housing 4a-4d by which the boards 14 are supported and enclosed, each connector comprising a tubular socket 32 with a split plug 33 at its lower end and a tab 30 which extends on to the corresponding board 14 to contact its printed circuitry and which by its shape retains the connector in cavity 20. Each plug 33 extends into the socket of the connector next below, or to printed conductors in panel 50 or socket connectors, not shown. The circuit paths so formed may be broken by removing the plug 33 or tab 30 from a particular socket 32. The boards 14 may be replaced by groups of interconnected modular units, which may be encapsulated, for example in epoxy resin, and frames 4a-4d may be replaced by plates supporting circuit elements.
