Abstract
1,102,574. Junction pieces. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. 6 April, 1965 [9 April, 1964], No. 14743/64. Heading F2G. [Also in Divisions B3, H1 and H2] A copper body 15 is cast around one or more tubes 10-12 of cupro-nickel, to form a hollow connector for the electrical interconnection of parts of the winding of a hollow conductor such as that of the rotor of a turbo alternator. Cooling gas or liquid flows through the connector, conductors and a cooling circuit in use. Tubes may be bent to shape and brazed or welded together. Then, after casting, outer surfaces are machined. Lugs 17, 19 and a screwthread 16 are formed at the ends of limbs for making electrical and fluid connection. Various forms of branching and offset tubular passages are described, as well as separate passages, Figs. 7, 8 (not shown) and a single passage, Figs. 9, 10 (not shown).
