Abstract
1,100,374. Electric fuzes for grenades. BOFORS A.B. 7 April, 1965 [7 April, 1964], No. 14833/65. Heading F3A. A grenade housing a hollow charge 3 within a casing 2 to which is attached a nose cone comprising outer and inner walls 1, 6 respectively is provided with an electric base fuze 4. The firing circuit of the fuze is closed on impact when the wall 1 is forced into contact with wall 6. The inner wall 6 is electrically connected to the fuze by a wire 5 which passes along a tube 8 within the charge 3, through an insulating disc 9 and an insulating sleeve 10 mounted in such a way in the wall 6, that the wire is eccentric to the liner 7 of the charge. From the sleeve 10 the wire is carried around a pin 12 before attachment to a rivet 11. Instead of rivet 11, soldering may be used to secure the wire to wall 6. Tube 8 may be brass or plastics and liner 7 may be made of copper, while wire 5 may be copper coated piano wire.
