Abstract

1,187,652. Coatings. NORTH AMERICAN ROCKWELL CORP. 10 March, 1967 [10 March, 1966], No. 11438/67. Heading B2K. [Also in Divisions C3 and G2] Coatings, e.g. on glass or copper substrates, are formed from compositions comprising photopolymerisable epoxy resins prepared by reacting an epoxy resin with a dihydroxybenzene, e.g. resorcinol, and simultaneously with at least two moles per mole of epoxy resin of a C 4-12 α, #-unsaturated acid (or an anhydride thereof) which reacts with the remaining epoxy groups to provide a reaction product having unsaturated reactive sites which may be cross-linked by electromagnetic radiation. The coatings are useful in preparing printed circuits in which case portions of the coatings are masked from exposure to the radiation e.g. ultraviolet light and subsequently removed, e.g. by solvent washing, after the remainder of the coating has been cross-linked.
