Abstract

1,180,740. Supporting railway track. JAPANESE NATIONAL RAILWAYS. 6 Feb., 1967 [7 Feb., 1966; 10 June, 1966], No. 5608/67. Heading E1G. In a method of laying railway track without ballast, a track section comprising a pair of rails 1 secured to longitudinal concrete sleeper slabs 2a is adjustably located above a concrete base 3 on temporary supports, whereafter cement-asphalt or other settable material 4a is injected to form a permanent support. Subsequent height adjustments may be made by steel wedges. The slabs 2a may be laterally located by base projections 6a or 6b. In a modification each slab is almost square and has a large central aperture, and spreading of the settable material is limited by formations on the base or on the underside of the slab.
