Abstract
1,178,602. Lasers. A. A. CHELNY, L. P. LISOVSKY, V. A. EVSIN, N. V. SHKUNOV, and E. I. KOSHELEV. 15 March, 1967, No. 12154/67. Heading H1C. In a laser the laser optical cavity mirrors 2, 3 are each in the form of a transparent planeparallel plate 2a, 3a having a multilayer dielectric reflecting coating 2b, 3b applied thereto so that heat from the laser output beam is absorbed by the plates 2a, 3a before reaching and damaging the dielectric coatings 2b, 3b. In the embodiment shown a ruby rod 1 is pumped by flashlamp 4 and an iris diaphragm is provided in the optical cavity for adjusting the emissive power of the laser. To protect the coatings 2b, 3b from external effects glass shields 6, 7 hermetically seal them between plates 2a, 3a and shields. The mirrors 2, 3 are free to rotate.
