Abstract
1,169,947. Reciprocating pumps. INTERNATIONAL BASIC ECONOMY CORP. Oct. 11, 1966 [Oct.12, 1965], No.45447/66. Heading F1A. [Also in Division G3] In an hydraulic pump having a cylinder block 70 mounted in a housing 20 and at least one cylinder 78 in the block, the cylinder is provided with two axially spaced outlets 81 and 102 through which the piston 62 delivers in succession during a pumping stroke. Pressure responsive valves 87 and 96 are associated with the respective cylinder outlets 81 and 102. The flow from the plurality of outlets 81 passes around the block 70 to valved outlet 222 and may provide cooling for the pump. The flow from outlets 102 passes to an outlet 116 via block passages 122, passages 112 in members 110, spring and pressure biased against the block 70, and housing passages 114. Liquid flows into the cylinders 78 through housing inlet 80 and valve controlled passages 88 in the pistons 62 or inlet ports in the cylinder block. To vary the ratio of liquid delivered through the outlets 116 and 222 the block 70 is movable against the bias of the spring 142 by a piston 146. Liquid under pressure is delivered to a chamber 150, defined between the piston 146 and the housing 22, under the control of a unit 135. The adjustable spring-biased spool 149 in the unit 135 is subject to the pressure at the cylinder outlets 102 through passages 122-A, 140, 144, 147 and serves to connect the chamber 150 to the outlets 102 via passages 130 and 162 or to the chamber 93 around the block 70 through passages 160 and 178. The block 70 is guided by bearing members (76, Fig. 8, not shown), mounted in recesses (72 and 74) in the block and housing. The piston shoes 56 are of nylon. To provide pump cooling the flow from the outlet (222, Fig. 7, not shown), leads to a heat exchanger (260) and is then forced through a fine filter (262) to a reservoir (250). Liquid is drawn from the reservoir (250) through a wire screen filter (252) to the pump inlet (80).
