Abstract
1,164,352. Coating with Si, Ge, Silicon nitride and titania. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. June 16, 1967, No.27785/67. Heading C7F. [Also in Division G2] An optical filter has a transparent substrate with at least one layer of germanium or silicon and at least one further layer of silicon nitride or titanium dioxide. In making an infrared filter, a series of such layers may be deposited by passing silane from a cylinder 21, Fig. 2, through a flowmeter 23 to a reaction chamber 22 of dielectric material, a r.f. power source 29 being connected thereacross by plates 30. Magnets 32 provide for the establishment of a plasma controlling field. After the layer of silicon has been deposited on glass substrate 31, anhydrous ammonia is introduced from cylinder 24 so that silicon nitride is deposited. The process is then repeated.
