Abstract

1,151,098. Refrigerating. J. & E. HALL Ltd. 17 Oct., 1967 [18 Oct., 1966], No. 46467/66. Heading F4H. In a compression-condensation refrigeration system the evaporator has at least three re frigerant passes and means are provided for passing liquid refrigerant from the junction of the second and third passes to the entrance of the first pass. As illustrated, the evaporator 12 is divided by partitions 9 and 10 into three compartments each provided with refrigerant tube bundles, Fig. 4 (not shown), which connect entrance and exit headers 25 and 24 via linking headers 23 and 26. Liquid refrigerant is withdrawn from the header 26 through a duct 27 which connects with the low pressure region of a refrigerant injector 28. The system includes an expansion valve (not shown) which is controlled according to the evaporator outlet temperature in order to maintain a predetermined level of superheating at that outlet. A medium to be cooled by the evaporator flows from an entrance 5 to an exit 6 via openings 13 and 14 in the partitions 10 and 9.
