Abstract

1,147,368. Container stowing fittings. MITSUI SHIPBUILDING & ENG. CO. Ltd. 27 Oct., 1967 [4 Nov., 1966], No. 48875/67. Headings B7A and B7S. In a cargo ship, container stowage apparatus comprises hatch cover sections hingedly mounted on the opposed edges of vertically aligned hatchways formed in the decks, the cover sections can be rotated to cover the hatchways or to stand in an erect position as required, and each section has container guides on its under face so that when the sections are erected vertical guides are formed to receive containers lowered through the hatchways. When the sections are closed conventional cargo can be stowed without obstruction by the container guides.
