Abstract

1,032,158. Motor vehicle engine mountings. REGIE NATIONALE DES USINES RENAULT. Dec. 2, 1964 [Dec. 28, 1963], No. 49085/64. Heading B7H. An engine 1 is suspended from a motor vehicle chassis by a rubber element 7 and by a torsion bar 2 which is connected to the engine crankcase by rubber inserts carried in brackets 5<SP>1</SP> and is supported by metal plates resting in rubber elements 6 on the chassis. Elastic stops (Fig. 2, not shown), carried by the bracket 5<SP>1</SP>, co-operate with a chassis member 12 to limit vertical movement of the engine. In another embodiment a rubber abutment provided on an extension of the crankcase for co-operation with a support member on the chassis includes an upper portion effective during acceleration and a smaller lower portion effective during reversing or overrunning. The torsion bar 2 may be secured to the engine at 16.
