Abstract
1,031,057. Clocks and watches. HAMILTON WATCH CO. July 30, 1963 [Aug. 3,1962], No. 30186/63. Heading G3T. An electric watch balance 4, Figs 1 to 3 (not shown) carries a coil 8 which cooperates with the field of a stationary permanent magnet 16. The magnet is bar-shaped and has one surface disposed toward the coil on which magnetic poles N, S are formed, the flux being closed through the magnet so that the opposite surface thereof does not exhibit any poles and stray fields are avoided whilst the thickness of the watch is reduced. The external field which cuts the coil is closed through a magnetic shunt 18, or this shunt may be replaced by a second magnet similar to the first. The pillar plate is recessed at 14 to house the magnet 16.
