Abstract
1,013,558. Filtering gases. FORD MOTOR CO. Ltd. May 5, 1964, No. 18575/64. Heading BIT. An air filter for I.C. engines comprises a mounting portion 5 attached by nuts 35 to the carburetter 7 and to reduce noise generated by the filter on account of the engine vibrations the remainder of the filter is connected to the portion 5 by a ring 13 of soft rubber. The ring 13 is bonded to a flange 27 of the portion 5 and to a flange 19 of the main body portion 9. The portion 9 has a lid 21 secured by bolts 25 so as to clamp an annular filter element 41 between rubber gaskets 43, 45. An opening 29 in the portion 5 provides a passage for clean air to the carburetter.
