Abstract

1,011,276. Packing bags into cartons. HOLSTEIN & KAPPERT MASCHINENFABRIK PHOENIX G.m.b.H. Nov. 22, 1963 [Dec. 6, 1962], No. 46151/63. Heading B8C. In an apparatus for packing filled and sealed bags into cartons, the bags are arranged in a number of rows and are engaged by upstanding portions at the tops thereof and lowered into a carton which is simultaneously raised towards the bags. The bags 6 are delivered from a filling and sealing machine on to a sliding surface 7, transferred to a conveyer 11 by a pusher 2, actuated after a predetermined number of bags have collected on the surface 7, received from the conveyer 11 by a flap 3 which rotates after actuation of a switch 19, and delivered thereby in an upright position on to trap-doors 4. Each row received on trap-doors 4 pushes the preceding row to the right until a switch 22 is actuated to cause gripper jaws 28, Fig. 3 of a gripper head 5, to engage the upstanding top portions of cartons 6. An associated control 29 operates a switch 37, when the grippers have closed, to cause opening of trap doors 4 and simultaneous lowering of gripper head 5 and raising of a carton 52 supported on rods 53 which form part of a lever system 34, 35, 47 and 49 (see also Figs. 4 and 5, not shown). Empty cartons are received on a rollerway 54 and are halted beneath the trap-doors 4 and over rods 53 by a stop 55 and adjacent this position by a stop 56.
