Abstract

Epoxy resins are hardened by conventional hardening agents in the presence of at least one plasticizer consisting of a dimerized, trimerized or higher polymerized fatty alcohol. The polymerized fatty alcohols are defined as being the reduction products of polymerized fatty acids or their esters, the polymerized fatty acid being itself prepared by the dimerization, trimerization or higher polymerization of an unsaturated fatty acid containing 11 to 22 carbon atoms. Polymerized fatty alcohols specified are derived from linseed oil, soya bean oil or tall oil fatty acids. Epoxy resins and hardeners therefor are both specified.
