Abstract
1, 098, 499. Hydraulic intensifiers. FRANK MARSHALL [ENGINEERS] Ltd. June 2, 1966 [May 11, 1965], No. 19749/65. Heading F1P. A hydraulic intensifier for testing hydraulic apparatus e.g. the relief valve in a hydraulic pit prop 21 comprises a differential piston and a cylinder 1, 2 having the low-pressure side 3 connected by a line 6 to a two-way reversible supply and exhaust valve 5 and having its highpressure side 4 connected through a non-return inlet valve 16 and a line 7 to said valve 5, through a transverse bore 15 to a pressure gauge 18 and through an axial bore 11 and a flexible conduit 19 to a non-return outlet valve 20 and the prop under test. With valve 5 connecting a supply line 8 to line 7 and connecting line 6 to an exhaust line 9, the cylinder space 4 is charged with low-pressure fluid resulting in retraction of the piston. On reversing valve 5 low-pressure fluid is admitted to cylinder space 3 resulting in pressurizing the fluid in space 4. Completion of the working strobe is indicated by the appearance of a button 22 in the cylinder end wall.
