Abstract

1,089,834. Pad applicators. G. SCHWARTZMAN. Sept. 15, 1965 [Feb. 18, 1965], No. 39324/65. Heading A4K. [Also in Division F2] In an applicator head, having a convex crown forming a valve seating, a plastic valve is moulded in situ, in a single step moulding operation and, while the ligaments 32 are still warm, the valve head 24 is pushed into its seating 28 so that the ligaments take a set, which will always resiliently urge the head into a valveclosing position. A porous cover 20 of coarse polyurethane foam, bonded to brushed nylon knitted fabric is swaged in place over the valve assembly, which may be of polystyrene or polyurethane. The valve has a cylindrical extension 15 which fits into, or forms part of, a container for shoe polish or another liquid preparation. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 971,691.
