Abstract

1,087,273. Electrophotography. MINNESOTA MINING & MANUFACTURING CO. Jan. 21, 1965 [Feb. 14, 1964], No. 2811/65. Heading H1K. A recording medium incorporating an optically sensitized photoconductive material includes an organic supersensitizer which is a complexing agent for zinc ions and contains a radical of formula where R 1 and R 3 are H, alkyl, aralkyl, or together form a 5 or 6 membered heterocyclic ring; Y is C = O, C = S, -SO 3 -, or -CHR 3 -NH-, where R 3 is H, alkyl, alkaryl or aryl and n is 1 or 0. The supersensitizer is used in quantities 0À0001-1À5 weight per cent. The light-sensitive compound may be ZnO. A mixture of ZnO and styrenebutadiene copolymer together with 3 sensitizing dyestuffs is used to test composition for various supersensitizers. Aluminium or foil-laminate may be used as a support whilst the image may be developed electrolytically. Preferred supersensitizers are p-dimethylaminobenzaldehyde and p-dimethylaminobenzoic acid, but a list of other suitable materials is given.
