Abstract

1,084,253. Filling gas-burning cigarette lighters. G. F. KEEN. Oct. 8, 1965 [Aug. 28, 1964], No. 35433/64. Heading F4F. A tubular adapter for placing between the filling valve of a gas lighter and the valve of a refill vessel has a cylindrical wall adapted to fit the filler opening of the lighter, and a recess at the other end having a diameter that fits closely over the outlet tube of the refill vessel. The recess has a length less than the length of this tube to allow the tube to be depressed into the refill vessel to open the valve therein. In one embodiment, Fig. 2 (not shown), a land is provided at the centre of the end of the adapter which engages the lighter. Adapters for different lighters may be made of different coloured plastics material and may be integrally moulded to a plastics ring.
