Abstract
1,076,235. Brazing. BROWN FINTUBE CO. Jan. 25, 1966 [Feb. 23, 1965], No. 3396/66. Heading B3R. An elongated fin member for brazing to a metal body such as a tube consists of a fin (3) Fig. 4 (not shown) fixed to a strip-like base (5) having a bottom formed with a groove (8) dividing the bottom into spaced surfaces adapted to be brazed to the body by brazing metal inserted as a wire rod or paste in the groove (8). The wire may be circular or non- circular and the groove shaped correspondingly. The paste may be copper powder in ethylene glycol. The tube and fins are of ferrous or non- ferrous metal and silver soldering, copper brazing or brazing in hydrogen may be used. The fin members each have two fins and are formed by rolling. The fins are attached externally and/or internally of the tube by the methods described in Specifications 790,342 and 789,774.
