Abstract

A fleece or mat (9) (Fig. 5 not shown) of glass or like mineral fibres is impregnated with a binding agent in a bath (12) and, while still moist, is drawn under tension past a spiked non-driven roller (15) which serves to perforate the mat without destroying or removing any of the fibres thereof. The fleece is then conveyed on a belt (18) to a drying furnace to cure and set the binder. Alternatively a bonded fleece may be remoistened and drawn past the spiked roller. The perforated fleece material finds application in the jointing of plaster board wall panels (see Division E1-2).
